Samuel M. Jones letter : Toledo, Ohio, to the city clerk of San Diego, Calif. : TLS, 1902 Sept. 10.

Letter from Jones, the mayor of Toledo, Ohio, to the city clerk of San Diego, Calif., concerning the establishment of an independent phone company. He writes on the behalf of a stockholder and promoter of such a company, and states that he himself has no financial interest in the matter. Jones notes that the Bell Telephone Co. did not give his city good service and lower rates until an independent company was organized and successful, which resulted in better service and prices cut in half. Portrait (clipping) of Jones attached to top of letter.
